Like his best-selling Only You of 2004, Your Songs consists of Connick singing familiar songs with a full Jazz big band and string orchestra, and, as with nearly all of Harry’s previous albums, he wrote each of the orchestrations himself. He also recruited two of his lifelong friends from New Orleans, Branford and Wynton Marsalis, as well as bluegrass guitar virtuoso Bryan Sutton, for guest appearances. 14 tracks including ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Smile’, ‘Just The Way You Are’ and more.

Your Songs Harry Connick Review
The new Harry Connick Jr CD is much different than any previous releases. The songs do not have the spirit and jazzy New Orleans beats as you would expect from other works. I enjoyed listening to the cd as I really like Harry Connick Jr but it is definitely for relaxing and easy listening. If you’re expecting the usual upbeat tempo and high energy performances, this release will not meet your expectations.

My wife pre-ordered this album and we have been listening to it constantly. It’s in the car and the house. My kids are now singing along to all of the classics. It is great to have some music the whole family can enjoy together.

As always, Harry has created an album that not only shows his superb talent as a singer/songwriter/arranger, but he gives us a real insight on just how outstanding of a musician (pianist, among other instruments) he is. Outstanding. If you like this, I recommend buying Harry’s dvd, “A Duo Occasion” which features Harry and Branford Marsalis. I have watched it probably twenty-five times.

I was expecting something really big from Harry with this CD. He’s had so many in recent years that were just lacking. I guess he did make a mistake collaborating with someone else who just wanted to make money off his name. I used to love, love, love Harry’s music. And, I have seen him in concert. But, somewhere along the way, he just seems to have lost his original flare to making music fun. Don’t get me wrong, his voice is beautiful. But, he just doesn’t seem to make an effort at making this music standout. I was so disappointed I wanted to cry.
